So my blog has been down since Ike and as most of you know WE HAVE NO POWER... I am currently at John's parents with the kids in Charlotte. I will post some Ike photos and pics of the kids in a day or so but until then John sent me a funny email...

Top Ten Reasons Hurricane Season Is Like Christmas

Number Ten: Decorating the house (with plywood).

Number Nine: Dragging out boxes that haven't been used since last season.

Number Eight: Last minute shopping in crowded stores.

Number Seven: Regular TV shows pre-empted for 'Specials'.

Number Six: Family coming to stay with you.

Number Five: Family and friends from out of state calling you.

Number Four:Buying food you don't normally buy . . . and in large quantities.

Number Three: Days off from work.

Number Two: Candles.

And the Number One reason Hurricane Season is like Christmas:

At some point you're probably going to have a tree in your house

IKE

Yikes it looks like Houston is going to get a visit from Ike. People around the coast are obviously evacuating but for us Woodlanders we are staying and riding out the storm. The worst I am anticipating is a loss of power which of course won't be fun in 90 degree heat but should be an experience. You can't tell from the photo but there is a guy up the tree cutting it down. Its a dead tree and most likely to come down in 100+ mile an hour wind. Here is another picture of my neighbors boarding up their home. Thought you would find it interesting. I have received lots of phone calls today but the most memorable was from my Grandma... She asked if my parents had left for Vegas yet, when I said yes. She said OH GOOD, I wouldn't want you mom in a hurricane. I laughed thinking I am sure Ruthie would fair much better than 3 little tired, hungry, bored, scared kids... Oh well she's a mom and you never stop mothering your babies!!!

On your marks...

Today the kids were playing outside in the pool and everything these days is a race. They race up the stairs and around the yard, always yelling ON YOUR MARKS GET SET GO!

The pool is so much more fun when Daddy is in it.

Labor Day

Cara and the kids came over for some playtime, I was elbow deep in yellow paint but took a break to catch up. So they stayed for lunch and we kicked the kids outside even though its 90+ they needed some outdoor fun. John was so wonderful, he sat with the kids and told Cara and I to enjoy 5 minutes of peace inside. What a guy! Wouldn't trade him in for the Starbucks guy any day!!! (I got hit on by a guy in Starbucks, it was very funny)

So here is a video of the kids playing before bed. You can notice Ella's new paint color, she wanted pink but I bought fabric that has SO MUCH pink so I thought it would be over kill. The boys have green so yellow was the next choice. I haven't made the curtains, that's this weekends project. We also need to get her a headboard since she now has the famous queen bed/guest room/ jumping party!!! Lots to do in her room but she seems fine with it so far.

Tomorrow I go to the specialist about my throat, so hopefully I will have my voice back ASAP. John does not think the hoarseness is attractive at all. Neither do I... So wish me luck!

I talked to Christopher and Jacks teacher at school to see how they were doing. I asked if they played together and what the dynamics were or if they fought over toys. No she said, they never let each other out of sight and if some other kid come close to one the other rushes to the side and makes sure everything is OK. She said its really cute, just what you would think about twins. They apparently show lots of affection for each other, interesting since at home they can fight like cats and dogs.

Oh last thought for the day. Its less than 2 weeks till my birthday. Let the excitement and anticipation begin!!!
